Drypoint: Printing with PinPress and etching press

Susan Rostow used the same plate to create the prints above. Drypoint tools were used to incise the image on the surface of a PETG plastic plate. Susan also combined this plate with monotypes process to create additional color prints. see more prints

The drypoint print on the left was printed with an etching press using Akua Intaglio Carbon Black Ink. Akua Wiping Fabric was used to wipe the surface of the plate. The fabric held a medium coat of ink and the final wipe was done with a slightly cleaner piece and very light hand pressure. The background color was printed with Akua Intaglio Transparent Base mixed with a few drops of Akua Kolor Raw Umber. It was printed on slightly textured damp Hahnemuhle Copperplate paper.

The drypoint print on the right was printed by hand with the PinPress using Akua Intaglio Carbon Black ink. Akua Wiping Fabric was used to wipe the surface of the plate. The fabric held a heavy coat of ink. Cotton swabs were used to remove ink in selected areas. Background color was printed with Akua Kolor Raw Umber. It was printed on damp Revere smooth paper.
